EAGAN, Minn. The Minnesota Vikings received one compensatory selection in the 2026 NFL Draft, the NFL announced Monday.

Minnesota was awarded the 97th overall pick, which is the first compensatory selection awarded and one of four tacked to the end of the third round.

The NFL's compensatory pick formula is designed to offset teams' losses in free agency, allocating a maximum of four compensatory selections to any team. Each year, a total of 32 picks are awarded in Rounds 3-7 based on salary, playing time and postseason honors.

The newest Vikings selection resulted from Sam Darnold's departure to Seattle during 2025 free agency. It marks the second consecutive year Minnesota has been awarded the first compensatory selection.

Minnesota received the 97th pick in 2025 to offset Kirk Cousins' departure during free agency in 2024. The Vikings moved down the board a little last year before selecting Tai Felton at No. 102.

The Vikings now have nine selections in the 2026 NFL Draft.
