McCaffrey Sets a New Franchise Standard
Running backChristian McCaffreyadded another milestone to his historic season, setting the 49ers franchise record for most receptions by a running back in a single year (96). McCaffrey was once again a focal point of the offense, finishing with 140 rushing yards, 41 receiving yards, and a touchdown. On the season, McCaffrey sits at No. 1 in the league with 2,069 yards from scrimmage.
Purdy Does It All
QuarterbackBrock Purdydelivered a complete performance in primetime, throwing for over 300 yards while adding 28 rushing yards, and three total touchdowns. He accounted for scores both through the air and on the ground and led the game-winning drive late in the fourth quarter with a 38-yard touchdown to wide receiverJauan Jennings.
Pearsall Shines in Return
Wide receiverRicky Pearsallmade a strong return to action after rehabbing knee and ankle injuries, leading the team with 85 receiving yards. Pearsall consistently stretched the field and came up with several key catches, including his longest catch of the night, a 30-yard reception in the first quarter.
Tonges Strikes First
In a game filled with scoring, tight endJake Tongeswas the first Niner to find the end zone. Tonges capped off the opening-quarter response with a one-yard touchdown reception, setting the tone for a night where San Francisco's offense repeatedly answered Chicago's scoring drives.
Defense Delivers When It Matters Most
In a game defined by offense, San Francisco's defense rose to the occasion on the Bears final drive. After quarterback Caleb Williams marched deep into 49ers territory in the final two minutes, the defense tightened inside the red zone, forcing a series of incompletions and standing firm at the goal line. LinebackerTatum Bethunewas active throughout the drive and finished with 11 combined tackles, including a stop that helped slow Chicago's momentum late in the game. The stand was capped by DLYetur Gross-Matos' quarterback hit on the final play, sealing the 4238 victory as time expired.
