BELEM, Brazil - At least eleven people have been killed in a mass shooting in Brazil.
Gunmen opened fire on people in a bar in northern Brazil on Sunday, officials said.
The shooting took place in the city of Belem, the public safety department of northern Para state said. Belem is the capital of the state.
There was no indication of what the motivation for the attack was, or who carried it out.
The attackers fled the scene quickly, however there is an unconfirmed report one of them was injured, and is now in custody.
Six women and 5 men are reported to have died in the attack.
Police say seven gunmen arrived at the bar in 3 cars and a motor bike.
The area of Belem where the bar is located has suffered high crime levels for some years and just two months ago the number of officers policing that area of the city was increased.
